Sacroiliac Fusion

Sacroilitis is inflammation of the sacroiliac joint. The sacroiliac joints (SI joints) connect the spine to the pelvis and lower skeleton.

Causes of SI Joint Pain:

  • Putting strain on the joint and supporting ligaments and soft tissues
  • Lifting while in awkward positions
  • Arthritis
  • Collagen vascular diseases
  • Signs and Symptoms:
  • Localized pain
  • Pain is constant and characterized as aching in nature
  • Muscle spasm

Testing:

  • Plain X-rays
  • MRI
  • Bone Scan
  • Lab Work

Treatment:

  • Drug Therapy
  • Heat and Cold Therapy
  • Sacroiliac Joint Rhizotomy
